On the
golf course when someone yells
FORE! . . . you'd better watch out! But at
Milwaukee Chapter of the American Singles Golf Association,
FORE stands
for:
F...ellowship
O...rganized Fun
R...elaxation
E...njoyment
About
the Organization
American Singles
Golf Association (ASGA) was formed in 1992 for the purpose of bringing
singles together through the game of golf. There are over 50
chapters across the United States with over 4,500 members. We are
not professional golfers, the average handicap is 25, but we all share the
goal of meeting other singles with common interests....life, love and the
pursuit of the golf ball.
The Milwaukee Chapter
The Milwaukee Chapter was founded in 1997.
We currently have 60 members with the men to women ratio about 50/50. The Milwaukee Chapter
plans regular weekend golf outings during the golfing season. Members
frequently arrange their own golf outings with other members who are available
during the weekday to golf.
We are
not just a singles golf group. We also have an extensive social
program throughout the entire year so you can meet and greet fellow single
individuals who enjoy the game of golf, want to meet and make new friends
and enjoy life.
We have
organized social events throughout the entire year such as dinner and a
movie, pub trivia, Friday night fish fry, Green Bay Packers parties, card
games, plays, festivals, concerts, etc. We also have an annual holiday
party and summer picnic.
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
Golfers of Milwaukee
June is soon to be
here and nice weather with it, so turn out in groves to play golf.
Look at the web site for our golf scheduled through out the summer.
They may change as the summer moves along, so keep up. You may
print the sign up sheets from the web site if in blue), or get them
at the golf outings. To insure your place, register early. We do
reserve only a certain amount of tee times, and about a week before
the outing, according to the cut off date, we cancel those slots not
used.
In addition to golf,
we have registered for a wine tasting at Morningstar on June 11th.
See the web for info. Get a hold of me, by June 7th if you want to
come. On the 7th, I will cancel those reservations not being used.
We will also be
attending the music concerts at Boerner Botanical Gardens-Whitnall
Park and/or Starry Nights Concerts-Sharon Lynne Wilson,
Brookfield. Watch for web e mails and call the hot line for more
information as it becomes available. These concerts are free and
you can bring or buy food and beverage at the location. I personally
vouch for them....an enjoyable way to spend relaxing and listening
to good music, friends, and the food and beverages.
We still need golf
coordinators for the outings. Call Sue Holcomb or Denise Polka to
be one. We will walk through it with you....on the job training.
Sue Holcomb won the
first ever great Soup Cook Off, Sue won by a landslide, excellent
soup Sue. All who did not attend missed a great soup dinner.
Denise Polka, Kerry Shaffer, a potential new member and yours truly
made soup, all of us all came in tied for second, thanks. We had
many new members and four potential new members at the mingle. As of
this writing, two have joined....go Kenny go. For those in need, we
viewed a video on pitching. I used the info at Rolling Hills and it
did help. Hopefully it will help in the future.
See you on the golf
course,
PS Go to the web site
for photo updates of our last golf outings and trip to the Art
Institute.
